Meet Chef and Owner Kyle Gibson
Born in downtown Charleston and raised in Hanahan, Kyle is a true Charleston native. Raised by a chef, his first job was—naturally—washing dishes at the prestigious Yeamans Hall Club, where he worked his way into prep and eventually earned a spot on the line. From there, he headed up the coast to DeBordieu Club for a summer immersed in the fast-paced culinary world, cooking and catering across the club’s restaurants and event spaces.
After graduation, life took a different direction when Kyle enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served five years on active duty before returning home as a veteran of multiple campaigns. He then built a long career managing engineering projects for the Department of Defense as a civilian.
Through it all, one belief has always stayed with him: make sure part of your life is devoted to something that feeds your soul, not just something that pays the bills. That philosophy led him to work part-time at the Charleston Music Hall, supporting his lifelong love of music—and now, in a full-circle moment, it has brought him back to cooking.
With deep Charleston roots and strong connections throughout the local event, music, and hospitality industries, Kyle can help turn a private gathering into something truly memorable. Steampot Social is about more than serving great seafood—it’s about creating an authentic Lowcountry experience, prepared personally, shared together, and tailored to the people around the table.
